Maroon 5: Hands All Over

okay, I know that the album will be released on September 21st, but do you believe that I already heard it and already memorized some of the lyrics in this album? well despite how I got the album before it is even released, I think I need to thank the technology, first. yes, thank you technology. you have become one of valuable part in my life.

I had a great expectation in this album, though. the first time I heard "Misery" and "Give a Little More" I knew the coming-soon album is gonna be epic. so when I had a chance to download the record from somewhere (let's say a friend of mine who knows that I love the band. but I won't give you a name :p), I listened to it in very excited kind of way. and there are some tracks that I love but also there are some that don't quite entertain me well.

here are my favorite tracks:
-Give a Little More
-Don't Know Nothing
-I Can't Lie
-Hands All Over
-I Can't Lie
-Just a Feeling
-Get Back In My Life
-No Curtain Call
and there's one song they recorded live. they do the cover version of "If I Ain't Got You" originally sang by Alicia Keys. guys, I have to tell you when I hear Adam Levine's voice, singing this song, it was beautifully stunning. he is really doing great with the high tune, really improving this song. since that, I put this cover version song of Maroon 5 into my "songs before sleep" list.

yep, I must say I didn't quite enjoy the rest of the tracks beside tracks that I mentioned above. but hey, it's still a good sign. I love 12 out of 17!

This all I've got to entertain me..

in case you didn't notice, I mentioned in my previous post how I successfully turned my messy room into tidy one. well the best part is now my one-stop entertainment is organized better.

actually the table on the right supposed to be my study table, but it turns out to be a full pack of entertainment table. I was gonna put all my books on the right table. but unfortunately my room is not too big, so I had to be smart enough to put all my stuffs in here and there. instead of putting the books on the table, I decided to put my laptop on it. I put my books in my father's study. there's a large book shelf in his study room, it fits to put all my thick text books and all college materials.

however, this is the most efficient arrangement that I could ever done. sorry I didn't have a chance to take the "before" pics. frankly, it was so messy. wires everywhere, you couldn't possibly believe it was a girl's room!

when I took these pictures I was watching Maroon 5 concerts on my laptop. so I guess you know who's on the screen, don't you?

Ramadan Kareem – happy fasting!

Today is the second day I’m fasting. I’m fasting because I’m a Muslim, and as Muslims, we’re obliged to do so. Fasting is an obligation on Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth lunar month of the Muslim calendar. Furthermore, fasting is recognized by Muslims around the world as one of the 5 pillars of Islam; the others being faith, prayer, charity and the pilgrimage.

The Muslim fast means a complete abstinence from eating or drinking between daybreak and sunset. But not just that it, during Ramadan we have to be able to control our emotion, anger, and lust. Ramadan is the most august of all months, pure, generous and merciful. Do not let its nights go waste in slumber, its days in careless omission or loss of remembrance of Allah (SWT).

I’m so glad when Ramadan comes. Because it is time when I could possibly have quality times with my family. Breakfasting together in the dining table, go to the mosque for Tarawih, pray altogether, and do more religious activities that could bring the closeness among my family.

From my first day experience, there was nothing to tell about that ruin my fasting. Yesterday I just stayed at home, read a book titled La Tahzan for Smart Muslimah. It is a nice reading, by the way. There are so many valuable words in it, and many good lessons you could learn from that in order to be a good muslimah. Later if I have a chance, I’ll post the review.

Today is just the same. There’s nothing happened. After Sahur, I helped Bibi washed the clothes and cleaned the house. After that I cleaned my own room. It was messy, but now it is not. I successfully turned my unpleasant room into a neat, orderly, yet simple and comfortable one. I saved some space, so now it is look more arranged than before. The best part is, it was all seems like an exhausting activities but I don’t feel so dehydrate. I don’t feel tired at all. Well maybe it is because Ramadan is magical, I suppose. It is different than any other months.

Quotes from my favorite musicians

howdy, everyone! this is my first post in August (it's 25 days remaining to September. Yay!)

I have something going on lately, so many thoughts in my mind. I couldn't even let out what I've been feeling inside. maybe that's why I barely update my blog. (ugh, lame excuse. I know!)

the other day, I follow Maroon 5 front man/singer/leader, Adam Levine and I saw his tweet that attract my attention. he tweeted about his favorite insult, which I found quite interesting.

here's what he said

"you're an idiot". That's my favorite insult. Cuts right to the core. Simple and potent.

and suddenly I was like "hell yeah, you're right, Adam! if only I could insult everyone without any guilty feeling, I'd say the same thing!"

oh and there's another one. this came from Thom Yorke, vocalist of Radiohead. I found the quote in one of discussion forum about Radiohead somewhere.

It's just that I'm surrounded by a world of grinning idiots and I don't think I want to be another one.

that's it. have you ever thought that you're surrounded by idiots? I have. I just couldn't agree more with his statement. well Thom Yorke is a genius one, I must admit. I can tell from the music he makes. If I said that statement out loud from my own mouth, I don't think it would be appropriate because sometimes I like to act like a total idiot myself! (ha-ha)

I know the quotes are about sarcastic insult and mockery. totally not wise at all. but you could said it if there's someone acts or bothers you like an idiot. just don't said it right in front of his/her face. otherwise, you'll get an enemy!

Salt: My Review

Runtime: 1 hr. 39 min.
Genre: Action & Adventure, Mystery & Suspense
Synopsis: As a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt (Jolie) swore an oath to duty, honor and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: "Who Is Salt?"
Starring: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Andre Braugher
Director: Phillip Noyce

yesterday I had this other chance to see SALT premiere with my best friend, Bonet, at Epicentrum XXI.

here's what I can spill, so far (based on the discussions of me and my BFF/movie freaks, Bonet ) about the movie:
- Salt is an adrenaline rush that keeps you jumping from situation to situation so quickly that you really do not have time to think about the many implausibilities raised throughout the film.
- it shows the other sides of Jolie (consider the blonde hair. I don't think it suits her. I like her better in black hair)
- I can guess the storyline easily. this movie is quite predictable, even for a newbie like me.
- Despite the dubious ending, it's truly a thrilling joyride and worth your time.

from scale 1 to 10, me and Bonet would give 7. not too shabby, though.

My (not-so-good-looking-style) 12 years old pictures

fyi, it's been a while since I accessed my facebook account. I barely update the status. but today, when I opened it, there was this notification that I've been tagged in a photo. the person that tagged me the photo is my elementary school friend, whom I never met in such a long time.

at first, I really had no idea what's the photo was like. I thought she tagged me a photo about some posters, you know, some kind of advertising and so on. but when I clicked it, here's what shown:

recognize me?

yes, I'm the one in the middle, with the orange suit and blue pants. the one with a bob hair.
the smallest and the cutest among them all :p

this picture was taken at the farewell party of my elementary school, SD Barunawati IV, in 2002. so I was 12 years old back then.

the middle - orange shirt - bob hair - the cutest :p

I just can't believe that my friend still has this photo. I didn't even knew that this picture was ever exist!
well, the one who tagged me the photo is not in the picture. probably she was the one who took it, and save it in her photo album, and when everyone had grown up being handsome/beautiful people, she knew the time is right, she upload it to facebook, which she knew that everyone (my elementary school friends, class of 2002) must have the account.

I feel kinda shocked but at the other side I feel hilarious, too. you know, reminiscing the old memories, brings me back to those good old times, experienced the flashbacks, etc.

everyone who's in the picture were my best friends at that time. we were very close at 6th grade. we used to hang out together, but now, seems like everyone had already gone, disappear (poof!). we don't know what's happening anymore between each other. and that's kinda sad, actually.

I know you guys must be burst into laugh to see the picture, but hey, it was 2002.
I think back then I was wearing and using the appropriate style. but if you see it now on 2010, turns out I was not at all. ok, stop laughing people. will you?

Cherry Bomb

dude, this movie is so cool! I never thought that Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart would play such a role like this. they're so rock n' roll!

Kristen managed to release the image of Bella Swan in Twilight. she's very good running role as Joan Jett, a woman rocker and guitar goddess. before seen this movie, I never had any idea that Kristen play guitar, in her real life, I mean. she really suits the Joan Jett's role, seriously.

meanwhile Dakota, she has always been my favorite actress since I saw her in I Am Sam. and to see her in The Runaways, I realized that she was not a little kid that I used to admire. but although she had grown up into a woman, she still shows her great acting and very different from her other films. makes me love and adore her more :)

talk about a movie is incomplete if we does not discuss the soundtrack. there are some songs that caught my attention and made me download it immediately after watching this movie. 2 songs, actually. first is called "Cherry Bomb". this song kinda stuck in my ear. it was the lyric and the way Dakota sings the "I'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb" part. it's funny, I think.
second is The Stooges, "I Wanna Be Your Dog". I dunno why, but this song is kinda helps me to take the edge off if I listen to it over and over.
